Truing is the process of making a grinding wheel round and concentric with the grinding wheel spindle axis. Truing is also the process of forming a specific shape on the face of the wheel. Dressing is the process of conditioning the surface of a trued wheel to expose the grain for efficient grinding action.
Diamond dressing tools are the shorter handled diamond tools that either have a matrix of small diamonds bonded to a broad surface on the end of the dresser or a single diamond mounted in their face, which are used to dress the surface of a grinding wheel.
A stick of hard material, usually made from the silicon carbide or aluminum oxide but with a stronger bonding agent. It is used for truing, shaping and dressing vitrified wheels and for general dressing of super-abrasives and diamond wheels.
