Motor is a mechanical device that generates rotary motion and/or torque by a conversion process, from some other form of energy. Generator is a device that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy for use in an external circuit.
Gear motor is a combination of a motor plus a reduction geartrain. These are often conveniently packaged together in one unit. The gear reduction (gear train) reduces the speed of the motor, with a corresponding increase in torque.
